After piloting the BYOT (bring your own technology) initiative with only six classroom during 2011-2012 school year, students and teachers wanted to share their experiences with all Shiloh families. We thought that BYOT Parent Night would be a great opportunity for parents to come and learn about effective ways our teachers are utilizing technology in everyday learning. We didn’t just celebrate success achieved by the piloting classrooms, but discussed some challenges and “hiccups” that were encountered as well.
Students were extremely excited to share their work with parents, teachers, and each other. It was very powerful to see how enthusiastic and engaged they were when proudly sharing their projects. 5th grade students decided to use their own devices to create an advertisement, a trailer, for BYOT Parent Night. The idea was completely theirs, and we were blown away how creative and persuasive they were! Take a look:
We would like to thank all families for joining us on May 17th. We appreciate our outstanding young presenters as well!
This is the presentation that was shared with parents during the event. We were very excited to hear many good questions from the audience.
